Aside from lipstick and loose powders, one of my greatest makeup vices is blushes-singles or duos, or even in palettes. I particularly adore neutral pinks, plums, and mauves. In particular, high-end blushes hold a special place in my makeup collection as they tend to be of better quality than their drugstore counterparts. I have several favorites when it comes to high-end blushes and here are five favorites.
Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Baby Love
The Too Faced Love Flush blushes have unfortunately been taken off every makeup site, but I have heard that’s because they’re repackaging. Despite their removal, these blushes feel silky smooth, and last a pretty long time-I won’t say they last 16 hours because I would never wear makeup for that long but I’ve worn the blush while working a full 8-9 hour retail shift that could sometimes extend to 12+ hours and this blush was still on my face when I got home. Anyway, enough rambling about the product. I have the color Baby Love, which is a neutral nude pink, but the packaging kind of looks peachy in color. The blush is matte which is good if I want to top it off with a highlighter and the packaging is cute as well.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure
The most coveted and most favorite blush in my favorites has to be my baby-my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush. It’s the most beautiful blush I’ve ever owned, beautifully marbled with the Ambient Lighting Powder to give it that subtle glow, and the fact that one layer is all it takes to give a beautiful glow makes it my favorite blush. I have the color Mood Exposure which is a beautiful subtle plum that makes it perfect for fall, but I wear it all year round.
MAC Powder Blush in Desert Rose
The MAC blushes are beautifully formulated in order to provide an even flush of color to the skin, but not apply too harshly to the point where you look like Pikachu. I love how silky smooth this formula feels, and when I first swatched it, the blush was not too reddish looking (as much as I love Pikachu and Pokemon in general, I really can’t walk around looking like everyone’s favorite mascot) and swatched as a neutral dark pink, which looks beautiful for fall, but this will be a year-round blush.
CoverFX Monochromatic Blush Duo in Mojave Mauve
I got the CoverFX Blush Duo when it was on sale during last year’s Ulta 21 Days of Beauty as I’d wanted to try it out. The blush duo comes with a matte blush and a shimmery, almost metallic blush. The metallic blush has texture on the actual product. The product itself feels silky and soft, and you can apply the two blushes separately or together, although I usually wear them separately. The blush provides a wash of color to provide an all-day glow.
As for the color I got, Mojave Mauve isn’t a purply-mauve, but more of a neutral pink mauve. The shimmery side is a bit paler, but for obvious reasons.
